William "Sonny" Woodruff, son of the late William Cairl and Lillie Jane Stephens Woodruff, was born in Dexter, Mo., on March 29, 1938, and died at his home in Dexter on April 6, 2014, at the age of 76. William "Sonny" Woodruff, son of the late William Cairl and Lillie Jane

Stephens Woodruff, was born in Dexter, Mo., on March 29, 1938, and died at his home in Dexter on April 6, 2014, at the age of 76.

He had lived in Dexter all of his life. He had worked at Purolator and as a carpenter and painter.

On May 25, 1960, he married Carol Ann Cooper in Dexter. She survives in the home.

Surviving with his wife, Carol Ann Woodruff is one daughter, Deborah Ann Woodruff of Dexter; one son, Thomas Wayne Woodruff of Dexter; six grandchildren and spouses, Casey Lynn and Chad Stall and Sarah Beth and Ian Turner all of Nashville, Tenn.; Bradley Woodruff, Danielle Sanders, Arin Woodruff and Dixie Woodruff, all of Dexter; two great-grandchildren, Chase Robert Stall and Connor Gene Stall, both of Nashville, Tenn.; and one sister, Pat Baldwin of Essex, Mo. Other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Woodruff and one half brother, Carlton Horn.

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Shelton, of Dexter, officiating.

Interment will be in the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service of Dexter in charge of arrangements.
