Verline McCollough, daughter of the late George Granville Ferguson and Ethel Aldred Ferguson, was born on April 8, 1924, in Bloomfield and died on March 22, 2014, at her residence in Dudley at the age of 89.
Mrs. McCollough was a homemaker and a member of the Sugar Tree General Baptist Church.
On Oct. 18, 1942, she was united in marriage to Howard McCollough in Dexter. Mr. McCollough preceded her in death on May 3, 2011.
She is survived by one son, Howard "Bud" McCollough Jr. and wife Pat of Dudley; by one daughter, Dorothy Tankersley of Wappapello; one half-brother, Dicky Joe Ferguson; three sisters, Patty Lynn, Peggy Lynn and Betty Tipton all of Michigan; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Delvis McCollough; and two sisters, Gladys Pauline Miller and Jenny Sue Jarrell.
Visitation was held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, March 24, 2014, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Chapel in Dexter with Rev. Justin Cook officiating.
Interment followed in the Dexter Cemetery. Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
