Donald Lee Smith, 75, was born Aug. 10, 1938, at Cline's Island, Mo. to the late Carl William & Lenora Gooch Smith, and died on Saturday March 8, 2014, at the Bertrand Retirement Home.
Don lived in Dogwood most of his life and was a retired farmer. He attended the Full Gospel Church in East Prairie and was a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Lori Smith Tobe of Lebanon, Tenn. and Mindy and John Anderson of Sikeston; one sister Norma Beatty of Sullivan, Mo.; by one grandson, Joshua Tobe; by five step-grandchildren, Heather Castleberry and Shawn Tobe, Cody, Kirsten and Taylor Anderson; by six step-great-grandchildren, Teagan Anderson, Andrew, Mariana and Harper Castleberry, Brooke and Madison Tobe; and a host of relatives and many friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Carlene Noyes.
Visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 12 at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. in the Shelby Chapel with Bro. Eric McGruder and Bro. Mike Johnson officiating. Burial followed in the Taylor Cemetery near Essex, Mo.
