Captain James Jines, son of the late Lyman Lloyd Jines and Cora Mae Knight Jines was born on Nov. 26, 1935, in Sikeston and died on Feb. 28, 2014, at his residence in Dexter at the age of 78. Captain James Jines, son of the late Lyman Lloyd Jines and Cora Mae Knight Jines was born on Nov. 26, 1935, in Sikeston and died on Feb. 28, 2014, at his residence in Dexter at the age of 78.

Mr. Jines attended the Assembly of God Church in Dexter, was a riverboat captain for Missouri Barge Lines and was a resident of Dexter.

Mr. Jines was united in marriage to Barbara Taylor on Feb. 22, 1958, in Benton. Mrs. Jines preceded him in death on April 15, 2013.

Mr. Jines is survived by one son, Sammy Michael Jines of Granbury, Texas; by two daughters and sons-in-law, Tonya Jenkins (Scott) and Tammy Fleeman (Tim) all of Dexter; by five brothers, Jack Jines of Bloomfield, Gary Jines, Laddy Jines, Larry Jines, all of Dexter and Joe Jines of Florida; by two sisters, Patsy Cook of Dexter and Judy Hadley of Oregon; by six grandchildren, Dana Smith (Rick), Kristian Fleeman, Bianca Jines, Ricky Jines, Michael Jines and Brett Saylors and by three great-grandchildren, Eva Smith, Addison Smith and Josea Saylors.

Besides his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one son, Ricky Jines; one brother, Lyman Jerry" NUB" Jines; and one sister, Margaret Dickerson.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, March 8, 2014, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 11 a.m. in the Chalk Bluff Cemetery in Dexter, with Rev. Lonny Mittag officiating.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter is in charge of all arrangements.
