JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon will be presiding over a discussion about the National Guard and emergency preparations during a national gathering of governors.

Nixon is heading to Washington, D.C., this weekend for the winter meeting of the National Governors Association.

Missouri's Democratic governor is chairman of the association's Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee.
