Rubena Battles, daughter of the late Charlie Ford and Rose Burns Ford, was born on Dec. 5, 1915, in Magness, Ark., and died January 27, 2014, at the age of 98.

Mrs. Battles was a resident of Heritage Square Nursing Center in Blytheville, Ark. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Samford Church of Christ in Steele, Mo.

On Jan. 17, 1931, she was united in marriage to Elmer Battles in Blytheville, Ark. Mr. Battles preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 1984.

Survivors include one daughter, Peggy Sutton of Luxora, Ark; two sons, Bobby Battles and wife, Marlene of Steele, Mo., and Elmer E. Battles and wife, Joyce of Dexter, Mo; 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Jerry Battles; grandson, Roger Battles; great-great granddaughter, Jordan Green and four sisters, Fannie Stanley, Maggie Lou Maxwell, Twyla Galloway and Freida McCoy.

Graveside services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014, at Pemiscot Memorial Gardens in Caruthersville, Mo., with Mr. John Smith officiating.

There will be no visitation. Cobb Funeral Home of Blytheville, Ark., is in charge of all arrangements.
