Beginning Monday, Feb. 3, 2014, two local volunteer tax preparers, Earl Young and Jack Norman, along with several other volunteers,will utilize IRS approved software to complete tax returns for local citizens at no charge.
This program is sponsored by the University of Missouri Extension Service in cooperation with the IRS. All returns will be e-filed the day they are prepared.
The objective of this program is to assist as many people as possible in completing both Federal and State Missouri tax returns.
Volunteers will be available at Cox Corner at Walnut St. and Business 60 in Dexter on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. from Feb. 3 until April 14.
"The audience we are focusing on are those individuals having an income of $52,000 or less, regardless of age and those individuals 60 and older,"Norman explained.
No appointments are necessary, as returns will be completed on a first come, first served basis.
