HAYWOOD CITY, Mo. (SMNS) -- A Haywood City woman has been charged with four counts of felony endangering the welfare of a child.
The Department of Social Services, Children's Division, went to a local school Friday to investigate a report of injuries to a child resulting from abuse or neglect, according to a new release from the Scotty County Sheriff's Department. Investigators then went to a residence in Haywood City to check living conditions and discovered enough evidence for to remove four juveniles from the home, the release said.
Cassandra L. Gipson, 27, and the children were not at the home when investigators arrived, but were found Sunday at a residence in Sikeston, Mo., the release said. Gipson was arrested and the children were taken into custody to be placed with other family members, the release said.
Gipson posted $1,000 bond and was released Sunday.
The sheriff's department is continuing to look for other family members who may be involved, the release said. The sheriff's department is asking anyone with information to contact the department at 545-3525 or leave a message on the tip line at 1-866-210-4322.
