POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- The Three Rivers Endowment Trust received a $1.5 million contribution from an anonymous donor for the proposed activity center on the Poplar Bluff, Mo., campus of Three Rivers College, according to a news release from the college.

The proposed 60,000-square-foot Three Rivers Activity Center will replace the Bess Activity Center as the home of Raiders and Lady Raiders basketball, the release said.

It will include a Sports & Wellness Center and a Sports Hall of Fame, the release said. The center, featuring 3,000 improved seats for spectators and a dedicated concessions area, will host athletic tournaments and other events from across the region, providing a boost to the area's economy, the release said.

Estimated project cost of the activity center is $11 million, part of which has been secured through a $2.5 million State Emergency Management Agency and Federal Emergency Management Agency safe room grant, and a $2 million bond sale, the release said.

The donation will go toward the $6.5 million remaining to be raised from college supporters, community members and Raiders fans, the release said.
