JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Starting June 16, cyclists competing in the Race Across America will make their way through Missouri.

Race Across America is a cross-country cycling event that brings cyclists from around the world. The race runs through Missouri June 16-21.

The Missouri Department of Transportation urges motorists to be aware of the riders and their support vehicles and use extra caution in their vicinity. Cyclists travel at their own pace, so motorists could encounter single riders or groups at different times throughout each day. Everyone involved in the race is required to follow all standard traffic laws and rules of the road.

The scheduled race route includes U.S. 54 from the Kansas state line through Jefferson City. Cyclists then travel on Route 94 to Hermann, and Route 100 to Washington. From there they travel on Route 47 back to Route 94 and through St. Charles County on Routes TT, T, D, Z, Pitman Ave., North Outer Road I-70, Routes C, B, 94, H, and U.S. 67. Some routes in St. Charles County were closed due to flooding as of June 14, and the race route may change depending on the condition of those roadways.

Additional information about the race is available at www.raceacrossamerica.org
