Dexter Head Start is inviting members of the local community to visit their center located on N. Outer Road. Ben Worley, an Investment Consultant from Edward Jones, visited with children at Dexter's Head Start re-cently. While at the Center, he was given a tour and was introduced to the staff and children, enjoying breakfast with the youngsters. He was also introduced to the Big Day for Pre-K Curriculum.

A typical Breakfast Club visit lasts about one hour. Each guest is given a tour of the Head Start center and learns about the tools used at Head Start, including curriculum, social skills building and nutrition. They may sit down with the children and enjoy a nutritious breakfast or lunch with them and if time permits, read a children's book to the class, be a part of their circle time, or just involve themselves in one of the center's activities.

The time each volunteer spends at the Head Start center serves as an In-Kind donation that helps the local center to meet their matching funds requirement.

Anyone interested in becoming a Breakfast Club Member is asked to contact the director or Sarah Quick at DAEOC Central Office at 573-379-3851.

DAEOC is a not for profit community action agency whose services include operation of 17 Head Start Centers throughout the lower six counties of Southeast Missouri. Each Center relies on community involvement and volunteers in order to make all the Center activities a success.
