Silas Sayre, son of the late Clyde and Winnie Davis Sayre, was born in Hayti, Mo., on Nov., 26, 1923, and died at the Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County in Dexter on April 9, 2013, at the age of 89. He had lived in Malden and moved to Dexter in 1947. He had been self employed as a carpenter and was a member of the Church of God International. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WWII...

Silas Sayre, son of the late Clyde and Winnie Davis Sayre, was born in Hayti, Mo., on Nov., 26, 1923, and died at the Southeast Health Center of Stoddard County in Dexter on April 9, 2013, at the age of 89.

He had lived in Malden and moved to Dexter in 1947. He had been self employed as a carpenter and was a member of the Church of God International. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army serving during WWII.

On June 11, 1947, he was married to Dorothy Louise Cates in Cape Girardeau.

Surviving are his wife Dorothy Sayre of Dexter; one son, Samuel Sayre of Dexter; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Dortha McGuire; and two brothers, Paul and Woodrow Sayre.

Visitation was held Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.

Graveside funeral services were then conducted on Thursday, April 11, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Dexter Cemetery with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs of Dexter officiating.

Interment followed with Watkins and Sons Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.
