CHARLESTON, MO. -- Five Dexter pitchers scattered seven hits over seven inning and the Bearcats picked up a win over Charleston, 11-2, Tuesday afternoon at Hillhouse Park in Charleston.

The win snapped a 3-game skid by the Bearcats, who now stand at 5-6 on the season.

"It's good to get back in the win column," Dexter coach Brian Becker said after the game. "We played well defensively, which is big difference from yesterday's game. We cleaned up a lot of stuff up out there.

"I thought our pitchers threw the ball well," he continued. "Our hitters... we're just missing. We had opportunities to drive in a lot more runs than what we did today. We just couldn't square the ball up. We're just going to have to keep our nose to the grind stone and keep working."

Nick Noble started on the hill for the 'Cats and worked two scoreless innings. Left-hander Blake Horton was next on the mound and the sophomore was touched up for a single unearned run. Austin Aldridge worked a scoreless fifth, as did Jason Mattison in the sixth. Becker sent Logan Northern in to pitch the seventh, and the senior gave up a pair of hits and a walk before a sacrifice fly plated Ryan Housman. Northern ended the game when he recorded his second strikeout of the frame to end the game.

Dexter roughed up two Charleston pitchers for 12 hits on the day. The 'Cats offense was aided by eight walks.

Junior Cody Neldon was 3-for-4 on the day, while Brad Potts and Nobel each had two hits.

Dexter will next be in action Thursday at home when the 'Cats will host SEMO Conference foe New Madrid County Central. The first pitch, weather permitting, is set for 4 o'clock.
