On April 3, 2013, at 7:40 p.m. in her son's home in Jackson, Mo., Bonnie Jean (Grubbs) Gromer, 69, peacefully lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her large, loving family and holding the hand of her husband of 47 years, Charles D. Gromer...

On April 3, 2013, at 7:40 p.m. in her son's home in Jackson, Mo., Bonnie Jean (Grubbs) Gromer, 69, peacefully lost her battle with pancreatic cancer. She was surrounded by her large, loving family and holding the hand of her husband of 47 years, Charles D. Gromer.

Bonnie was born Aug. 4, 1943, in Tipton, Ind., to the late Norma Lee (Garner) Grubbs and the late Oakley R. Grubbs. She was married on Oct. 29, 1965, to Charles Dale Gromer in Dexter, Mo. They resided in Noblesville, Ind., until 1987 before returning to Dexter.

Mrs. Gromer was primarily employed at Brown Shoe Company in Poplar Bluff (where she first met Charles Gromer); Arrow Drapery Company in Westfield, Ind.; and Tyson Foods Inc. in Dexter However, Bonnie's proudest job was being mother to her beloved son, Timothy Dale Gromer.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Charles D. Gromer; her son, Timothy D. Gromer, and his wife, Suanne (Clark); her brothers, Oakley "Junior" Grubbs, and Jerry L. Grubbs both of Indianapolis, Ind., Kenneth E. Grubbs, Gilbert M. "Gib" Grubbs, Glen V. "Buddy" Grubbs, and David P. Grubbs, all of Dexter; her sisters, Roberta A. "Bertie" Getek of Springfield, Ruthie (Bien) Colove of Oak Ridge, and Rosalee Ward of Indianapolis, Ind.; her dear brothers and sister's-in-law; Charles' daughters, Tammy D. Six and Tracey D. Gromer, both of Sikeston; many, much-loved family members and friends, along with her furry grandbabies, Phoebe, Baddabing, and Paisan.

In addition to her parents, Bonnie was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Gene Grubbs and one sister, Ethel Marie Borders.

Bonnie's family would like to extend their deep gratitude to Mary Nespor of St Francis Cancer Institute and Crown Hospice for their loving help and support.

Visitation will take place at Emmanuel Baptist Church (where she was a member) of Dexter Saturday, April 6th, 2013, at 12 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Shane Mallard officiating.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 401 N One Mile Road, Dexter, Mo., 63841.
