Bernie broke open a scoreless game in the sixth inning and the Lady Mules went on to record a 2-0 win over the Lady Bearcats at Dexter Wednesday.

Jordan Ellenburg drilled a 1-out double after a lead-off triple by Tori Lowery and a walk to Katie Baker to plate what would be the only two runs of the tightly contested game.

The two hits were the only hits allowed by Dexter pitcher Riley Rickman, who worked seven strong innings. She recorded 17 strikeouts and issued three walks.

Blakely Bradshaw went the distance for the Lady Mules to pick up the win in the season-opener for the Lady Mules.

Rickman also paced the Lady 'Cats at the plate with three of Dexter's nine hits. The Lady Bearcats stranded 12 base runners as Bradshaw and the Lady Mules' defense continually worked out of trouble.

Dexter slipped to 0-3, 0-2 in SCAA play, on the season. The Lady Bearcats will next be in action Tuesday (April 2) at Malden.

Bernie will be back in action today at Bell City.
