Richard A. Johnson, 21, of Bell City, was placed under arrest at 7:27 p.m. Tuesday following an accident on County Rd. 340, one mile north of Bell City that left one man injured.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Johnson was charged with assault in the second degree, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated resulting in an injury, misdemeanor possession of marijuana (less than 35 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia, no proof of insurance, and for not wearing a seatbelt.
The patrol states Johnson was eastbound on the county road when his vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a ditch.
Johnson was uninjured in the accident, but his passenger, 22-year-old Daniel Dickinson, 22, of Advance, sustained moderate injuries and was taken by private vehicle to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau for treatment. The accident occurred at 6:30 p.m. Dickinson was wearing his seat belt at the time.
Johnson was transported to the Stoddard County Jail.
