William "Bill" Crutchfield, 74 of Kirbyville, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at his residence. William "Bill" Davidson Crutchfield was born Nov. 9, 1938, in Bernie, Mo., to the late Ralph and Viola (Davidson) Crutchfield. He attended school in Bernie. After school he moved to St. Louis where he worked for McDonald-Douglas Aircraft as a machinist and welder for five years. He then became an over-the-road truck driver and lived in Wentzville for many years...

William "Bill" Crutchfield, 74 of Kirbyville, died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at his residence.

William "Bill" Davidson Crutchfield was born Nov. 9, 1938, in Bernie, Mo., to the late Ralph and Viola (Davidson) Crutchfield. He attended school in Bernie. After school he moved to St. Louis where he worked for McDonald-Douglas Aircraft as a machinist and welder for five years. He then became an over-the-road truck driver and lived in Wentzville for many years.

Bill retired from trucking in the early 1990s and moved to Branson, where he worked at the Jim Stafford Theater as a shuttle driver for many years.

Bill spent his retirement in Kirbyville fishing, spending time in the outdoors, recycling and i car restoration. Although he considered everyone his family, Sassy, his dog, was his best friend. They spent many hours watching Western movies and Bonanza on TV. He was optimistic, with a heart of gold, well liked, and loved to talk and speak his mind.

He is survived by one son, James Crutchfield and wife Debbie of Eufaula, Okla; two daughters, Pamela Hurst of Dexter, Jackie Lynn Crutchfield and partner, Tina Hurst of Greenwood, Neb.; two brothers, Dawsey Crutchfield and wife, Patsy of Branson, Mo., and Dennis Crutchfield and wife, Ann of Vanduser, Mo.; and his dog Sassy; nine grandchildren, Thomas, William, David, Jennifer, Alicia, Gena, Jimmy, Billy, and Rachel; and 29 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, in the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home with Chaplain Larry Kackley officiating. Burial will be private.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kissee-Schofield-Eakins Funeral Home of Forsyth, Mo.
