Betty Henderson Joyner, daughter of the late George Allen and Ruth Brown Carwile, was born in Flint, Mich., on Dec. 6, 1928, and died at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff on Feb. 25, 2013, at the age of 84.
She had lived in Dexter most of her life and attended the First General Baptist Church. She had worked as an LPN for Dr. Robert Jibben, Sr. several years ago. She and her husband loved to travel and had spent the winter in Brownsville, Texas for several years.
She was married to Colin John Brady of Florida and William Kenneth Link of Aquilla. On Sept. 24, 1954, she was married to Marteen William "Fat" Henderson, with whom she operated the Bootheel Restaurant. He preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1974. On March 7, 1975, she was married to Nathan Hubert "Doc" Corbin, who preceded her in death on March 24, 1994. In October, 1997, she was married to Thomas W. Joyner in Piggott, Ark.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas Joyner of Dexter; one daughter, Cheryl "Sherry" Brody Zimmerman of Dexter; one son, Bill Link of Dexter; one step-son, Bud Joyner of Poplar Bluff; one step-daughter, Linda Morgan of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Jana Wyman and Jenni Zimmerman, both of Dexter, Beckie Link-King of Sidney, Ark., and Paul Link of Burlington, Vt.; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Lawrence Carwile of Dexter; and one sister, Bonnie Hester of San Antonio, Texas.
Other family and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one sister, Donnie Price.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the Watkins and Sons Chapel in Dexter with the Rev. Kenneth Biggs officiating.
Interment will follow in the Dexter Cemetery with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
