Dexter High School students were among those taking top honors at the recent 38th Annual Regional High School Student Art Show at Sikeston.
Participating in the event were students from Bernie, Cape Central, Dexter, Kelly, Malden, New Madrid County Central, Notre Dame, Oran, Poplar Bluff, Puxico, Richland, Saxony Lutheran, Scott County Central, and Sikeston.
A portrait by senior, Kaitlin Viers, entitled, "Freckles," took Best in Show at the annual contest. The same piece took first in the Portrait Division. "Flowing," a portrait by LaceAnn Sumner, was awarded second place in the division and Honey Patel's portrait, "Wonder," received Honorable Mention.
In the category of Landscape, a piece by Heather Davis called, "Beach Bum," also received Honorable Mention.
In the Still Life category, Kaitlin Viers received another first place award for "Doorway."
For her art piece entitled, "Stalking," Kasity Twaddell received first place honors in the category of Animal/Wldlife.
In Abstracts, Twaddell placed second for "Colors of the Wind," and Viers placed third for "Grid."
In the category of Fibers/Collage, Viers again took a first place prize for "Which Wolf Do You Feed?" Twaddell received Honorable Mention in the same category for her piece called, "Wrinkles."
Dexter High School art students are under the direction of Clinton Twaddell.
Also receiving honors from Stoddard County were Heather Gillock, Brittany Shain, Sarah Fouts, and Whitney Williams, all from Puxico and Carl Voss from Bernie.
