BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- An accident northeast of Bloomfield near Avert claimed the life of an Advance man Wednesday afternoon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Hwy. AB, one-tenth of a mile east of County Road 506.
The report states that the 2007 Freightliner ran off the right side of the road, overcorrected then ran off the left side of the road, overcorrected again and then overturned. The vehicle reportedly came to rest on its side.
The driver of the vehicle, 34-year-old Daniel J. Whittemore of Advance, was pronounced dead at the scene by Stoddard County Coroner Kenny Pope.
Two other individuals were injured in the crash.
Jonathan E. Eldridge, 29, of Marble Hill, Mo., sustained moderate injuries. Tracy K. Williams, 47, of Advance, sustained serious injuries as a result of the single-vehicle crash.
Both were transported by ambulance to Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
None of the individuals in the crash were wearing seatbelts, the patrol stated.
This was the first fatal crash of 2013 for MSHP Troop E. (The number does not reflect traffic deaths within city limits).
Several additional agencies reported to the scene including the Stoddard County Sheriff's Department, Bloomfield Fire Department, the Stoddard County Ambulance District and the Mo. Dept. of Transportation.
