Marjorie Manerva Quick Proffer, daughter of the late Luther F. and Millie A Scism Quick, was born on Aug. 31,1916, in rural Bloomfield and died at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau on Jan. 10, 2013, at the age of 96.
On Oct. 29, 1943, she was married to Lee T. Proffer in Dexter. She lived in Bloomfield all her life, had a teaching career of over 30 years, and had been a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield until moving to Cape Girardeau.
Surviving are one son, James Proffer of Cape Girardeau; one daughter, Mary Johnson of Festus; one grandson, Jason Johnson also of Festus; and one sister-in-law, Louisa Quick of Bloomfield. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee T. Proffer; four brothers, Asa A. Quick, George O. Quick, Cloid V. Quick, and Seldon F. Quick; two sisters, Floda Glaser and Geraldine Quick.
Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan.14, 2013, after 12 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Jan. 14, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home with Bro. Jeremy Myers of Bloomfield officiating. Interment will be in the North Antioch Cemetery near Bloomfield with Chiles-Cooper Funeral Home in charge of all arrangements.
