BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- A Bloomfield family is without a home following a Wednesday fire.
According to Bloomfield Fire Chief Justin Bell, the fire was reported at approximately 2 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon.
When fire crews arrived on the scene, approximately six miles west of Bloomfield on Hwy. J near Acorn Ridge, the house was fully engulfed.
"Fire had already broken through the front of the house and flames were coming out of the windows at the rear of the home," Bell said.
Occupants inside the home noticed a reflection of fire in the kitchen. When they went to investigate, they found there was fire coming from behind the couch.
Attempts were made to extinguish the blaze, but when the smoke became too strong, they had to evacuate the home.
No one was injured in the fire.
Bell said mutual aid was requested from the Puxico Fire Department to battle the blaze.
In the two days following the fire, it has flared back up three times, requiring the fire department to return to the scene.
The home belongs to Sherry Chism.
