Dexter police are hunting for a suspect in relation to an armed robbery Thursday evening.

According to the Dexter Police Department, a contract worker from Arkansas was staying at the Hickory House Inn on North Outer Rd. and reported the incident.

Few details are available regarding what led up to the incident.

All that is known is that a man from outside of one of the rooms at the Inn pointed a gun at the victim in an attempt to rob him at approximately 7:52 p.m. Thursday.

A cell phone and keys were taken, but nothing else.

The suspect then reportedly fled the scene around the back of the hotel.

Police found no trace of the suspect and are assuming he had a car behind the hotel and fled in it after the attempted armed robbery.

No shots were fired and no one was injured.

The only description officers have is that the suspect was a black male.

Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Dexter Police Department at 624-5512.
