Helen Elizabeth "Liz" Long, 54, of Oak Ridge, Mo., formerly of Dexter, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Dec. 4, 1957, in Little Rock, Ark., daughter of Donald A. St. Martin (Major USAF) and Helen M. McClendon St. Martin. She and James E. Long, Jr. were married Sept. 29, 1979...

Helen Elizabeth "Liz" Long, 54, of Oak Ridge, Mo., formerly of Dexter, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2012, at home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born Dec. 4, 1957, in Little Rock, Ark., daughter of Donald A. St. Martin (Major USAF) and Helen M. McClendon St. Martin. She and James E. Long, Jr. were married Sept. 29, 1979.

Liz was a graduate of Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Ark., and then attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kan., and later her Master of Science degrees in Environmental Engineering and Civil Engineering at South Dakota School of Mines in Rapid City, S.D.

She had worked for William A. Green & Associates in Malden and also Strickland Engineer-ing in Jackson.

Liz was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson and a former member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter.

Loving survivors include her husband, Deacon James E. Long, Jr. (Lt. Colonel, USAF Retired) of Oak Ridge; two daughters and a son-in-law, Lt. Rachel Long, USAF, Lt. Sarah Long Sparks USN and her husband Capt. James W. Sparks, Jr., USMC; a sister, Susan M. St. Martin, of Benntonville, Ark.; a brother, Donald A. St. Martin of Bentonville, Ark.; a brother-in-law, Randy Eisert of Oklahoma City, Okla.; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lynda C. Eisert.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, Mo. A parish prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

A Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, Mo., with Rev. John Harth officiating.

Interment will be Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
