A man and woman from Dexter are behind bars today following a recent marijuana bust.

According to Stoddard County Sheriff Carl Hefner, on Friday, July 27, a search warrant was executed by his department and the Dexter Police Department on a home in Dexter.

The warrant was issued after "several controlled drug buys" were done from the residence.

When deputies entered the home, they discovered a "felony amount" of marijuana inside the residence.

The two individuals found inside the home were arrested and taken to the Stoddard County Jail.

Charged were Ricky J. Burgess, 48 of Dexter, and Cindy Pruitt, 49 of Dexter. Both were charged with the Class C felony of possession of a controlled substance.

Their bond has been set at $50,000 cash-only, each.

They both remain in jail at this time.

Burgess and Pruitt will be arraigned before Judge Joe. Z. Satterfield on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012.
