William Seabert Greer of Clubb, Mo. died June 28, 2012 at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center in Poplar Bluff at the age of 91.

Bill, as he was known to all his family and friends, was born March 24, 1921 to Harry Delbert Greer and Mary Elizabeth (Johnson) Greer in Poplar Bluff. He was raised in Butler County and attended Oak Grove School.

In 1940, Bill was united in marriage to Ruth Huson at Fredericktown. She preceded him in death in 1981.

Bill served in the United States Army and received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the Normandy Invasion in World War II. He also served as a Baptist preacher in his younger years before becoming a farmer and raising cattle.

Bill enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of the Wayne County Eagles Aerie 4187, VFW, and the American Legion.

Survivors include two sons; Billy Jack (Ruby) Greer and Jerry Greer, all of Clubb; one sister Earlene (Jerry) O'Neal, of Ohio; seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother, Walter D. Greer, and one sister, Velma Stokes.

Visitation was held Sunday, July 1, 2012 at Ruegg Funeral Home in Greenville. Funeral services were held Monday, July 2, 2012 at Ruegg Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Jack Rogers officiating. A military burial followed at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
