James Thomas (Jim) Fowler, 63 years old, died on June 21, 2012 at the Hospice of St. John's Facility in Lake Wood, Colo. He was born on April 3, 1949 in rural Essex, Mo., to the late Albert and Arel (Wilson) Fowler. He also had 3 siblings that preceded him in death. They were Pete Fowler, Dennis Fowler, and Alberta Fowler Cornelison. He is survived by three brothers: Albert Fowler of Grayridge, Mo., Bobby Gene (wife, Shirley) of Dexter, Mo., Joe (wife, Helen) of Red Bud, Ill., and Judith V (Tootie) Fowler Ray of Gosnell, Ark. Many wonderful nephews and nieces.
The world has lost a true and much loved friend and family member.
Jim attended the former Gray Ridge Elementary School and graduated from Richland High School . There he was remembered for his great love for art, music and his quest for knowledge in both history and current social events. He graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. He taught at the elementary school in Holcomb, Mo., where he taught art for a few years.
He then chose to venture out into the world and made his next new home in Portland, Ore. From there Jim's love and dedication for nature, wildlife and the beauty, scenery and adventures offered by our National Parks provided his home and career for over 30 years
Joe and his wife Helen drove from Illinois to Colorado to visit Jim and let him know that everyone in the Fowler family was praying for and loving him. This visit meant much to Jim.
A celebration of Jim's life following cremation will take place on July 17, 2012 at the New Hope General Baptist Church , rural Essex at 4:30 pm. Deacon Carroll Duckworth officating. All of his friends from this area are invited to come and share in this event to honor Jimmy.
