An opportunity to jumpstart a business idea or start up a small business is coming to Dexter at no charge to interested parties.

The Douglas C. Greene Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Southeast Missouri State University will be offering a six-week course called Operation JumpStart. The course is designed to help with business planning and preparation skills like product pricing, legal structure, competition, marketing, and cash flow management.

Through the course, a feasibility plan will be developed to start or expand a business. Operation JumpStart will start July 24 and will be held on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Dexter Chamber of Commerce located at 515 W. Market Street #B.

Visit www.semo.edu/cie/training to register. An application is required and seating is limited. Registration is also open for an Operation JumpStart program which will be offered in Cape Girardeau beginning in September. Classes are forming now, so organizers suggest that interested parties call or go online to register early.

The OJS course in Dexter, to be offered at no charge to the participants, is made possible in part through funding from the U.S. Small Business Administration. The SBA cannot endorse any products, opinions or services of any external parties or activities. Programs are extended to the public on a non-discriminatory basis. Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities will be made if requested at least two weeks in advance.
