NEW MADRID, Mo. - A former Dexter man charged in connection with a May 21, 2011 rape in Dexter has had his case set for trial.

Moses Grayson, Jr., 33, will stand trial beginning on Sept. 20 and running through Sept. 21 before Judge Fred Copeland in a New Madrid County courtroom. A pre-trial hearing was also scheduled for Sept. 11 to take up any final motions before trial.

His trial was originally set for Dec. 15, 2011, but was delayed.

In a late July hearing, Grayson's attorney, Lesley Lynn, filed a joint application for change of judge and change of venue. The motion was taken up by Judge Stephen Sharp at an August hearing where the motion was sustained following an agreement made by the parties.

He is charged with the Class A felony of forcible rape, the Class A felony of armed criminal action and the Class B felony of first-degree burglary.
