Stella Dean Gosnell, daughter of the late James Walton Beavers, Sr. and Clara B. Baugher Beavers, was born in Catron, Mo., on Feb. 8, 1927, and died at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo., on May 17, 2012, at the age of 85.
She had lived in Morehouse, Mo. most of her life. She was of the Missionary Baptist faith. She had worked for the Daily Standard News-paper in Sikeston, Mo.
On Oct. 2, 1945, she was married to Murell Jefferson Gosnell. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 1985.
Surviving are one son and spouse, Murell Robert "Bob" and Frankie Gosnell of Dexter, Mo.; three daughters and spouses, Linda and Stan Harmon and Judy and Glenn Greene, all of Morehouse, Mo., and Connie and Bud Smith of Dutchtown, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great- grandchildren; one brother and spouse, Walton, Jr. and Lena Beavers of Sikeston, Mo.; and one sister, Frances Belle Kessler of Sikeston, Mo. Other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by one son, Ronald J. Gosnell, six sisters and two brothers.
Visitation was held Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the General Baptist Church on Headlee St. in Morehouse.
Funeral services followed on Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 1 p.m. at the General Baptist Church on Headlee St. in Morehouse, with Bro. Randy Thomas of Sikeston officiating.
Interment took place in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston, Mo., with Watkins & Sons Funeral Service of Morehouse, Mo., in charge of arrangements.
