BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - A 32-year-old Bell City man who in recent years served as that city's Chief of Police, remains in the Stoddard County Jail under a $35,000 bond after being arrested Tuesday, April 10 for first degree sodomy.

Shawn Al Green headed up the Bell City police department in recent years for a period of about 18 months.

The charges brought against Green stem from interviews with his alleged victim that date back to December 2010. Those interviews involved the Missouri Children's Division and forensic interviewers with the Ozark Foothills Child Advocacy Center in Doniphan, Mo. Allegations of sexual abuse were reported between February 2009 and November 2010, according to the probable cause affidavit obtained from the office of Prosecuting Attorney Russ Oliver.

Green's arrest, according to Oliver, comes following an investigation that has remained open and ongoing since the original allegations, during which time Green did not have access to the juvenile allegedly involved.

A person commits the crime of statutory sodomy in the first degree if he has deviate sexual intercourse with another person who is less than fourteen years old.

Missouri law states when the victim is less than twelve years of age, the authorized term of imprisonment upon conviction is life imprisonment or a term not less than 10 years.

Green will appear before Judge Joe Z. Satterfield today at the Stoddard County Justice Center in Bloomfield.
