A Bloomfield man is in jail this week following a robbery at gunpoint.

Marvin Hugh DeJournett, 32, is charged with one count each of the Class B felony of assault in the first degree, the Class A felony of robbery in the first degree and the unclassified felony of armed criminal action.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Sgt. J.T. Benton of the Dexter Police Department, at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday he responded in reference to a disturbance on East Elk St. Upon arrival the officer learned that two men had returned home from the laundry mat and noticed a pickup parked in front of their residence.

One victim said as they walked past the truck the right seat passenger rolled down a window then brandished a handgun and asked "ain't you the one who owes me money?" The suspect then allegedly identified himself as Marvin DeJournett.

When the two men walked into the house to call police DeJournett knocked on the door to the house and "was mouthing" them. The victim's grandmother answered the door and said he sounded impaired when he spoke.

Eventually, he returned to the truck and drove away.

After searching for the suspect vehicle, Benton returned to the victim's home who then told him he had another friend who could "tell more of the story".

The newly-introduced victim stated he had been robbed by DeJournett earlier in the evening on Bo Geary Circle at Aquilla.

He said DeJournett pulled a semi-automatic pistol, cocked it and placed it to his head then demanded all of his money. When the victim turned over all of the money had, DeJournett reportedly kept asking for more. Finally, he told DeJournett that he had more money at home which is believed to be why the truck was outside when the initial victims arrived home.

The Stoddard County Sheriff's Department was then called in because the initial crime occurred outside of city limits. In a written statement for the county, the victim stated that DeJournett told him several times he would kill him. In the written statement, the victim wrote that DeJournett had pointed two guns at his head.

DeJournett is currently being housed in the Stoddard County Jail in lieu of a $35,000 cash-only bond.
