SIKESTON -- A joint investigation by local and out-of-state law enforcement officials has resulted in the recovery of over 300 stolen items valued at $10,000.

On Dec. 1 Sikeston Department of Public Safety detectives met with Det. Brandon Matlock of the Tipton County, Tenn., Sheriff's Office, who was investigating a week-old burglary in his jurisdiction, according to Lt. Jim McMillen, public information officer for Sikeston DPS.

One of the suspects, who lives on Crowe Street in Sikeston, is the sister of the burglary victim.

"According to the victim, her sister knew she would be out of town at the time her property was stolen," McMillen said. "This -- along with several other clues -- led Tipton County detectives to Sikeston."

Sikeston DPS then assisted Tipton County detectives in serving a at the residence on Crowe. While searching for the stolen property, several drug-related items were located, and two of the occupants of the home were arrested for the paraphernalia.

The couple claimed they were in Tennessee on the date of the theft; however, they said they had nothing to do with the burglary.

During an interview it was learned that the couple had a storage unit in the Miner, and the couple consented to police searching their storage unit. It was then officers found the stolen property from Tennessee.
