A.L. Blair, son of the late John Turner Blair and Myrtle Mae Lynch Blair, was born on April 5, 1938 in Henderson, Tenn., and died at the Missouri Southern Health Care in Dexter on Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2011 at the age of 73.
Mr. Blair was of the Baptist faith, member of the National Rifle Association, veteran of the United States Army, a self-employed farmer for many years, and a resident of Essex, Mo.
Survivors include three brothers, Kermit Blair of Essex, Mo., Bob Blair of Dexter, and J.C. Blair of Vallejo, Calif.; one sister, Connie Beck of St. Louis, Mo.; also a very special friend Gloria Ritch of Grayridge, Mo.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Linnie Rowland; and by one brother, Lloyd Blair.
Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11, 2011.
Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, Aug. 12, 2011, at 11 a.m. at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., with Rev. Ronnie Ledbetter and Rev. James Mallory officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors.
Family has requested that memorials be made to the American Cancer Association. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home office.
