BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - The highly anticipated baseball showdown between the top seeded teams in next week's SCAA varsity baseball tournament turned into a dud Thursday afternoon.
The Bernie Mules calculated 14 unanswered run on its way to a 14-0 five-inning road win against the Bloomfield Wildcats
"We played pretty well today," Bernie coach Darrin Shipman said. "We hit some balls hard we got several bunts down. Devin pitched well and we played good defense. Bloomfield has really played well this spring so it was a good win for us."
Devin Trammell earned the win on the hill for the Mules. He allowed no runs, struck out four and did not walk a batter in the four innings he pitched. He helped his own cause with an RBI-single in the second and three-run homer in the fifth.

Justin Stanfield had an RBI single in the third and Austin Beck collected a two-RBI double in the frame.
B.J. Jennings and Kirkpatrick collected RBIs for the Mules in the fourth.
Bernie is slated to play traditional powerhouse Cooter Friday at 10 a.m. in the Malden Tournament. Bernie is also scheduled to play NMCC Friday at 2 p.m.
Bloomfield will play Doniphan Friday at noon and Portageville Friday at 4 p.m. at the same nine-team tournament in Malden.
