Richland dominated Scott County Central Braves 70-41, advancing to the Class 1 District 2 finals, while Delta Bobcats overcame Bell City with a strong second-half performance to secure victory.

ESSEX — The Richland Rebels advanced to the finals of the Class 1 District 2 tournament with a 70-41 victory over the Scott County Central Braves last Wednesday night.

Top-seeded Richland improved its record to 16-11 for the season. Scott County Central’s season ended with a 5-19 record.

Tucker Hughes led the Rebel attack with 25 points to lead all scorers. Gary Tilley added 18 points and Eric Williams scored 12 to augment Richland’s offense.

Scott County Central’s leading scorer was Cartavian Banks with 18 points.

Richland led 19-11 after the first quarter, and a 19-5 advantage in the second put the Rebels up 38-16 at half. A 23-13 third quarter from Richland gave them a commanding 61-29 lead going into the fourth quarter, and although Scott County Central outscored Richland 12-9 in the fourth, the outcome was never in doubt.

Bell City led Delta 24-16 at halftime thanks to a 14-5 advantage in the second quarter. However, Delta scored 38 points in the second half to Bell City’s 23, eliminating their first half deficit and giving them the victory.

Ryan Jeffries led the Bobcats with a game-high 20 points, while Skylar Vandeven added 14.

Bell City’s leading scorers were Dawson Loomes with 13 points and Kale Richardson with 12.
