BELL CITY, Mo. - Devin Trammell hurled a no-hitter to help the undefeated Bernie Mules baseball team hand the Bell City Cubs its first loss 3-0 Tuesday afternoon.
Bernie tallied two runs in the top of the second inning and another run in the top of the third inning to account for the scoring.
Alex Guzman and Jayce Burk had RBI singles in the second inning for Bernie.
Owen Foster added an RBI single in the third inning for the Mules.
Trammell struck out eight and walked two in seven innings of work.
"We played a solid game today and Devin threw the ball extremely well," Bernie coach Darrin Shipman said in a press release to Dexter Daily Statesman. "It was good to see the bottom of our order come through in key situations today as they had five of our six hits. Jayce Burk played a great game, reaching base all three times, and Alex Guzman had two hits. Bell City is a great team and they have several good pitchers. It was sure good to get this quality win on the road."
Peyton Maddox was the pitcher of record for Bell City. He pitched six innings.
Bernie improves to 6-0 with the victory and Bell City drops to 7-1 with the loss.
Bernie hosts Clearwater Wednesday and Bell City begins play in the three-day Oak Ridge baseball tournament Thursday.
