Three standout football players from Dexter High School signed letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic careers at the next level on Tuesday.

Bearcats running back Jett Grams is headed to Evangel University, while Lee-Michael McDonald is going to McKendree University and Ethan Glaus has signed with Central Methodist University. The signing ceremony was attended by family, friends, coaches, and teammates.

“I am excited for the opportunities ahead of them,” Dexter coach Chad Jamerson said. “The chance to play any sport at the next level is reserved for a select few. I believe it speaks volumes to their talent and work ethic that they are receiving the chance. I can’t wait to watch these guys continue chasing their dreams.

“For the program, I believe it creates hope, opportunity, and goals for others in Dexter football. I believe it shows our guys that if you work hard, great things can happen. It helps us fulfill part of our mission as a football program in creating productive citizens for the future.”

Evangel is a private Christian university and seminary located in Springfield, Missouri. Evangel is a NAIA Division I program and competes in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

When asked what made Evangel the right fit, Grams said, “It was definitely the coaches, especially the head coach, Chuck Hepola. He made me feel confident about growing and improving as a football player and a Christian.”

McDonald is headed to McKendree, a private university in Lebanon, Illinois, just east of St. Louis. McKendree is a NCAA Division II university that competes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference.

“I fell in love with the campus,” McDonald said.

Glaus will play at Central Methodist University, located in Fayette, Missouri. Central Methodist is a NAIA Division I program that competes in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

Glaus was not available at Tuesday’s ceremony.
