Bloomfield senior Austin Battles qualified for the Class 1 state golf tournament by posting an 11-over-par 82 at the sectional May 11 at the Golf Club at Deer Chase. He finished eighth overall at the sectional, after tying for sixth at the district. It is Battles' second trip to the state championships. He also attended the state golf tournament as a sophomore. The 36-hole Class 1 state golf tournament will take place Monday and Tuesday at Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield.
