HOLCOMB, Mo. - The Bloomfield Wildcats edged the Holcomb Hornets 49-41 on the road Thursday night.
"We've struggled playing on the road this year so it feels good to finally win one away from home," Bloomfield coach Jason Karnes said in a press release to Dexter Daily Statesman. "We were able to grind out stops down the stretch and I hope we are starting to understand how important each possession and defensive stop is. Our next three games are all on the road and will be a good test for us as we head into the district . . ."
Noah Vandiver tallied all of his team-high 20 points for Bloomfield before the start of the fourth quarter.
Alex Gibbs scored six points in each half for the Wildcats for a total of 12. Tyler Battles contributed 10 more points for Bloomfield.
Chance Davis paced Holcomb with 11 points.
Bloomfield (14-9) returns to action Saturday at 3:15 p.m. when it takes on Tri-County Conference powerhouse Gideon at Three Rivers College in Poplar Bluff.
