Foster parenting: "A blessing, not a burden

There remains a significant shortage of foster parents in the 35th Judicial District. With the rate of children in foster care growing at an average of five percent annually, that shortage is becoming more and more evident. The shortage was confirmed last week by Tim Decker, Director of Missouri Children's Division, who spoke to a gathering of foster parents from both Stoddard and Dunklin Counties. ...

PARK HILLS - Dexter junior MaKayla Waldner had a banner day Saturday winning four district championships during the Class 3, District 1 track and field meet at Park Hills Central High School. Mary Gromer, daughter of the late Ernest and Addie Mason Gromer, was born in Marquand, Mo., on Aug. 29, 1932, and died at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo., on May 18, 2015, at the age of 82. She had lived in Dexter most of her life and had worked at Swift and Company, International Hat Factory and Crowley Ridge Care Center before she retired.
