BERNIE, Mo. -- Two individuals are in the Stoddard County Jail after being apprehended at a residence on N. Miller Street Saturday night, April 4, it was learned Monday. According to Bernie Police Chief Justin Allen, a caller told police they had heard what was thought to be a gunshot and had heard a male and female couple arguing at 608 N. Miller. When officers arrived on the scene, they reportedly had confirmation of a female inside the home, but she refused to open the door for police...

After many months of planning, the City of Dexter, in conjunction with the city's Tourism Committee, has scheduled "The Moving Wall," the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, to visit Dexter in August. T. J. "Bud" Stephens, Jr., son of the late Thomas Joel, Sr. and Iva Mae Evans Stephens, was born in Bloomfield on Sept. 21, 1936, and died at his home in Dexter on April 18, 2015, at the age of 78. He had lived in St. Louis before returning to Dexter over 40 years ago. He had served in the Air Force, worked at General Cable in St. Louis and was a self employed plumber. He was of the Methodist faith...

Willa M. Gaede, daughter of the late Marshall Cloud and Zoe Turlington Cloud, was born on Feb. 10, 1935, in Dexter and died on April 19, 2015, at her residence in Dexter at the age of 80. Mrs. Gaede was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dexter. She had worked as the secretary for the First Baptist Church for many years and was the Salutatorian for the Dexter High School graduating class of 1953...
