The Dexter Lady Bearcats finished 2nd in the state after falling to Incarnate Word 60-43. This is the best finish in school history for the Bearcats.

The Bearcats defeated Benton 54-21 in a Class 4 semifinal on Friday at Mizzou Arena in Columbia, Mo., and will play for the state championship on Saturday.

Helen Porter Williams, 87, of Dexter, Mo., died March 21, 2014. She was born in Poplar Bluff, Mo., Feb. 25, 1927, to the late Frank and Ellen Porter. She was a longtime resident of Poplar Bluff.
