Melba Ann Cantrell, daughter of the late Howard Earl and Lula Edith Eaton Carpenter, was born in Steele, Mo. on Feb. 1, 1947, and died at her home in Washington, La. on Sept. 12, 2013, at the age of 66. She had lived in Dexter and the surrounding area most of her life and had lived in Washington, Louisiana the past three years. She had worked at the Daily Statesman, Hudson Foods and Tyson Foods. Betty Jenkins Thomure was born in May 1930, to the late Roy and Eva Jenkins and died Sept. 9, 2013, at the age of 83. Betty was a graduate of Dexter High School. She married Joe Thomure and he preceded her in death in 1984. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Jim Buckley, of Huntsville. ...
