Absentee voting opened last week for the April 2 municipal, school and road district elections. There are several contested races on the ballots around the county and two tax measures that will be decided by county voters and residents of Dexter. Both entities, Stoddard County and the City of Dexter, are asking voters to approve a use tax equal to the amount of the sales tax. The county has a one-cent sales tax, while the City of Dexter has a two-cent sales tax...

Nothing to report. Stoddard County Feb. 22, 2013 Stewart James Barney, 25, of Dexter was arrested on a warrant for 2nd degree vehicular injury. Bond was set at $25,000 cash and he remains in jail at this time. Kimberly A. Cornell, 41, of Dexter, was arrested on a warrant for 3rd degree assault. Bond was set at $2500 cash and she remains in jail at this time...
