Dr. Sam McGowan, former superintendent of the Dexter Public School system from 1981-1989, died at his Mascoutah, Ill. home on Wednesday, Nov. 20, at the age of 68. Funeral services are being handled in Mascoutah.

The search for a new varsity football coach at Kennett High School officially began Tuesday night. The Kennett Board of Education accepted the resignation of current head football coach Corey Adkisson at Tuesday night's school board meeting. Adkisson served as the head football coach at Kennett for the past two seasons. Kennett's varsity finished with a record of 3-7 in Adkisson's first year as head coach and went 1-9 during the 2012 season...

The Southeast Missouri State women's basketball team traveled by bus for its first three road games.
