Stoddard County cotton farmers are planting slightly less than last year due to the extremely dry spring that has enveloped the Bootheel. Cotton farmers enjoyed a very good year in 2011 with good crops and high prices. Most cotton that was planted early in the spring season is faring well, but many farmers have had to shift gears and any substantial rain has evaded the area since March.
