Wanda L. Jackson, 87, was born in Risco, Mo., on April 3, 1928, to Luther H. and Elsie Mae (Bridges) Woolard and died on Sept. 25, 2015, at the Cypress Point Nursing Center in Dexter.

Wanda's family moved from Risco to Puxico when she was in the 8th grade, and she graduated from Puxico High School in 1946. Wanda was united in marriage to Gerald E. Jackson on May 18, 1946, in Piggott, Ark. She was very much involved in their farming and dairy operation in Aid, Mo., while also working as a seamstress at Elder's Manufacturing in Bloomfield and Dexter for over 20 years. Upon retiring from farming, she and Gerald moved to Dexter in 1991.

Wanda was a former member of the Liberty Hill General Baptist Church in Aid and a current member of the Risen Church in Dexter.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Gerald, of 69 years; one daughter, Barbara Duckworth (Clinton) of Dexter; two sons, Ken Jackson (Jamie) of Dexter, and Mark Jackson (Kim) of Bloomfield; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Blanche Lee, Higginsville, Mo.

Wanda was preceded in death by one son, Ron Jackson; her parents and two brothers, Winfred Woolard and Raymond Woolard.

Wanda was devoted in raising their four children, attending activities of her grandchildren, and supporting her church. She took great pride in cultivating large gardens and sharing her delicious fried chicken, cheeseburgers with home-grown tomatoes and onions, and homemade pies with her family and friends.

Visitation and funeral services were held on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015, at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. Interment followed at Harper Cemetery in Aid.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Stoddard County Children's Home in Bloomfield; the Dexter Oaks Nutrition Center in Dexter or the charity of your choice.
