Shirley Jean Rainey, 82, of Advance formerly of Dexter, MO, passed away May 8, 2019 at Crowley Ridge Care Center in Dexter. She was born February 10, 1937 at Kennett, Mo. the daughter of Burley and Lillian Skelton James.
Shirley had been the Administrator of the Dexter Medical and Surgical Clinic for many years. She believed in the General Baptist faith. Her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed attended many of her grandchildren’s sports activities throughout the years. She was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Shirley and Sidney Allen Rainey were united in marriage on May 1, 1955 at Hernado, MS and he preceded her in death on March 30, 2008.
Loving survivors include: four sons, Jim (Melinda) Rainey of Advance, Steve (Marla) Rainey of Dexter, Earl Rainey of Bloomfield and Larry (Kathy) Rainey of Bell City; a sister, Rieann Carroll of Burlington, Wisconsin; 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers.
Visitation will be held on Monday May 13, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday May 14, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the chapel with Rev. Bob Bradford officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bell City General Baptist Church.
