Richard Hart, son of Ora Calvin Hart of Advance, Mo., and the late Amos Hart, was born on Feb. 4, 1940, in Catron, Mo., and died on Sept. 18, 2014, at his residence in Essex, Mo., at the age of 74. Mr. Hart was of the Baptist faith and had worked as a safety engineer for Oxidental Petroleum for 33 years and as a environmental engineer for the Dexter Hospital for nine years. ...

Richard Hart, son of Ora Calvin Hart of Advance, Mo., and the late Amos Hart, was born on Feb. 4, 1940, in Catron, Mo., and died on Sept. 18, 2014, at his residence in Essex, Mo., at the age of 74.

Mr. Hart was of the Baptist faith and had worked as a safety engineer for Oxidental Petroleum for 33 years and as a environmental engineer for the Dexter Hospital for nine years. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in the HM3 Medical Corp. He was a member of the American Legion Post 382 in Bloomfield and a 10-year member of the Stoddard County Honor Guard.

On Sept. 14, 1996, he was united in marriage to Sharon Kaye Hart in Dexter. Mrs. Hart survives of the home.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by one son, Michael Hart and his wife Carie of Lakewood, Calif.; by two stepsons, Keith Duffie and his wife Nancy of Candler, N. C. and Kevin Duffie of Clarksville, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Tammy Johnson and her husband Paul of Hull, Massachussetts; three brothers, Harold Hart and his wife Vivian of Bell City, Mitchell Hart and his wife Mary of Advance and Butch Hart and his wife Sharon, also of Advance; eight grandchildren, Heith, Logan, Devin, Ethan, Styles, Danielle, Andreus and Gunnar.

Besides his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Hart.

Visitation will be held at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, from 5 p.m to 8 p.m, Graveside services will be conducted at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, at 1p.m. with M.A. Hart and Jack Gilles officiating. Interment will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full Military Honors.
